Bridging the Gap for Inclusive Athletics in the Tri-Cities
At the VA Lady Bulls, we believe that the power of sport belongs to everyone. Inspired by the need for inclusive fitness in Hopewell and Prince George, our Unified Sports program brings together athletes with and without intellectual disabilities on the same team.
By training and competing together, we are breaking down social barriers, fostering lifelong friendships, and ensuring that every child has a "village" behind them.
Why Unified?
Research shows that inclusive sports programs do more than just improve fitness; they transform lives. Our program focuses on three core pillars:
Physical Health: Reducing health disparities and preventing childhood obesity through expert-led track and field training.
Social Inclusion: Pairing neurodiverse athletes with Unified Partners to build empathy, understanding, and meaningful connections.
Emotional Resilience: Boosting self-esteem and social confidence in a sensory-safe, supportive environment.
Our Unified Programs
Unified Track & Field (Ages 5-18): A co-ed program where athletes of similar ages and abilities train together in sprints, relays, and field events.
Young Athletes (Ages 2-7): A play-based "Special Olympics" introductory program designed to develop motor skills and social play for our youngest community members.
